Evaluation

For this assignment I've been given 7 weeks to finish this Image Management. In this 7 weeks I've been asked to complete 4 mini tasks and a Fancy Landscape photograph which was meant to be fake landscape. Also, I had to research two photographers which were Seung Woo Back and John Goto.
For my first mini task I had to do a Image Within a Image. To complete this task Molly had to take two photos of me. One of them was me standing next to the wall and the other one was me sitting next to the billboard. Then I had to upload my images to a Photoshop. First thing that I did was I dragged the first photo into the second one and then I changed the opacity to 52% so I could see the billboard behind my second photo. Then I had to rotate the image so it fits on to a billboard. After that I zoomed it to delete unwanted bits of my second photo and to do that I used eraser tool. Then I changed the opacity to 100% and zoomed out so I could see if I deleted everything I wanted. After I finished editing it I had to flatter the image and save it. Through this process I screen grabbed everything I did to prove that I did it step by step.
For my second final mini task I had to create Half In Colour Half In Black And White image. To do this task I had to take a photograph of something colorful and then upload my image to a Photoshop. When I did that I had to create another layer of the same photo so then I had two layers and I could start editing it. To start editing my image I had to click on 'Desaturate' so it changed the image to black and white. Then what I had to do was to click on erase tool so the colour on my photograph started to show up and I had to zoom in very close to see the edges of where I want the colour to show up. When I finished with that I had to save my image.
For my third task I've been asked to do Duplicating. For this I went out and took two photos of Emilie on the bench  One of them was when she was sitting on it and the other one was her standing on this bench. When I uploaded those photographs to Photoshop I then had to choose a lasso tool. When I chose this tool i had to go around one of the images of Emilie. When I finished with the lasso tool I chose erase tool and then clicked on 'Quick mask mode' to see what it looks like and then erase those bits that were still on the photo. After that I moved Emilie form this edited photo to the first one and had to fit her there perfectly. Then I used the blur tool to blur Emilie so it didn't look like I just copied and pasted her onto this firs image.
For my fourth task I had to to Painting onto a Photo. To do that I went out and took a portrait of Molly standing next to the wall. When I uploaded my photo to Photoshop I the clicked on Adjustments and then on Channel Mixer, and then I had to click on Monochrome so it change my photo to black and white. After that I saved it and printed it out on A4 piece of paper. I then used water colour paints to paint the black and white photo.
For my final task I chad to create a Fancy Landscape. I went out and took photos of a big building, football  pitch, beer factory chimney and logo of shopping center in Burton. First thing that I did on this photo I used a magic lasso tool to go around the big building and then erased unwanted bits of photo then I dragged this building to the football pitch, and I had to change opacity so I could see where I have to delete the building. Then I did the same with a chimney and logo. After that I flattered everything and blurred around those three things that I added to this football pitch. For this assignment I used Cannon 400D camera, computer, memory stick.
What I enjoyed the most in this 7 week assignment was Painting Onto a Photo and Duplicating. The reason why I enjoyed them was because Painting onto a photo was very creative task and we have learned the techniques that all the photographers did when the colour photography wasn't even existing. I enjoyed the duplicating because for me this was the most interesting task of all. I like how you can manipulate image and make it look real even if it's not.
If I did my final fancy landscape again I would add more trees to it so it would look better and probably I would choose some different building or objects to add to it as well or I would take two landscape photographs and combine them together and then maybe that would look better that my final fancy landscape that I have created.

John Goto

John Goto is a british artist who is best know for his photo digital artwork. His photographs are actually telling a stories about people. He's done combinations of photos and peoples and them made look like a story. For me his photographs aren't looking real but I like them just because they're telling me some kind of story. John made a group of portraits of young people in Lewisham in South London which he called 'Lovers of Rock", he made those portraits in 1977 and they were not published until 2012.

I like this picture but it also has a bad side of it because I think there's too much going on it and I can't really tell what's the photo actually about.
I like how al the people are doing different things but it;s too much for me so I cant really know what's the meaning of it.
In my opinion this is his worst picture even if it's   telling a story. I think that the people on a photo look fake and they actually look like they've been copied and pasted onto a image.
I think this is one of my favourite's because this image doesn't look that fake to me. John added to the photograph those columns and those people which you can barely see but if you look carefully you'll be albe to notice them.

Seung Woo Back

Seung Woo Back lives and works in Korea. In 2002 he studied a photography in Chungang University. When he was 33 he moved to London. He is well known for his fantasy images. All of his fantasy photographs look like they have been done while travelling around the world and they look real, but if you look again and again you will notice that he has put one or more images together to create new unique image.

This photograph doesn't look that real to me, but I know that he has took two photos and put one on another. He took his first image of pyramid and the second one of a bridge with a city behind it.
In my opinion this image looks very real. I think that he took 3 photographs, one of them he took of a park, leaning tower of pisa and a landscape of a city. Then I think he has put the park image on to a city and made them look like the city is behind the park. The what I think he did he cut out the leaning tower and draget it into a park. In my opinion this photo is a good one because all three photos look like they were taken in one day because of the colours, brightness and contrast of them.

This image reminds me of like superman or spiderman because Seung has put that man who looks like he's gonna jump or fly away form it. I think Seung has put one photo onto another which I think that the background is a wide landscape view of lake with a buildings behind it and then he cut out and pasted this man on to it.

Final Fancy Landscape

This is my final landscape that I made. I took the landscape background picture with Canon 400D. I took a picture of a big building, football pitch, beer factory chimney and logo of shopping centre in Burton. I thought it would be a good idea if I put those things together on a football pitch because it will look real. After i done it it didn't look fake for me so I think i did a good job.

This is a photo of a football pitch that I chose to add things to.

When I had all of my photos in Photoshop CS6 I then cut out photo of a big building and draged it to the first photograph and changed the opacity so I could see which bits of a picture I have to delete.
Then I chose a rubber tool to delete unwanted bits of the building.

This screen grab shows my progress of deleting stuff of the image.

This is a screen grab of that beer factory chimney and as you can see I already put it on to my first image.

This is the Burtons shopping centre logo which I decided to put at the top of the place where you can sit and watch the football.
I changed the contrast of the logo because it was too bright and it didn't look real for me.

After I've finished with adding them to my photo I blurred what I've put on the image so it didn't look like it was copied and pasted.

FINAL PHOTOGRAPH

I am very happy with what I done there and if I have to make this again I would ad more things to it like trees and maybe another building.

Tsk 4 - Painting onto a photo

In this lessons we went out to take a portrait photograph of each other. Then we looked at photographers who painted their black and white photographs because the colour photography wasn't existing at this time. I used Canon 450D to take photographs, software that I used to edit my picture was Photoshop 6.

This is a portrait picture that I took of Molly.

When I've put my photo to Photoshop I then had to go to Adjustments and then click on the Channel Mixer.

This is screen grab of what came up when I clicked on Channel Mixer.

Then I had to click on Monochrome on the bottom so it changed the picture to Black & White.

This screen grab shows that I saved my photo.

When I saved my picture I had to print it out and then paint it water colours.

FINAL PAINTED PHOTOGRAPH
I scanned this photo in to a computer by using Image Capture.

I think I did this task very well because because using Photoshop to change it to Black & White was easy and quick to do so then I had a long time to paint my photo. I am also satisfied with my painting because it's colourful and I tried to paint every detail of the photo like lips, eyes, eyebrows. If I did the same task again I would change colour of the background.

JPEG - Fairly high/decent quality, however it compresses the image size and flattens the image, suitable for saving experiments.
PHOTOSHOP (PSD) - High quality, large file size, saves and keeps open all layers, this format allows you to keep working on the image.
TIFF - Very high quality, ideal for saving final/best/important images, won't compress the image at all.
RAW - Not recommended, high quality, large file size.

Task 3 - Duplicating

On this session we went out to take two pictures, I took them of Emilie on the bench. After that we had to put them to photoshop and edit it.

When we put those two pictures to photoshop we had to click on the lasso tool. Then I had to go all around her body with it.

When I finished with the lasso tool I clicked on erase and the clicked on 'Quick mask mode' to see what it looks like and then erase some bits of it.

This screen grab shows my progress.

I screen grabbed this to show that I finished with eraser.

Then I moved Emilie from my second picture to the first one and had to fit her perfectly on the first one.

Then I blurred the edges of her body so it doesn't look like she was copied and pasted.

This is screen grab of my finished work.

This is the evidence that I saved my picture.

FINAL PHOTOGRAPH

I like my final photograph because I think it looks real, not copied and pasted. But if I did this task again I would choose a different location, and took more picture of Emilie so I would have about 4 Emilie's on this photo with different positions.

Task 2 - Half in colour and half in black and white.

On this day we had to make a photograph that was half in colour and half in black and white. At first we had to go out and take a picture of something colourful. Then edit it in photoshop.

This is image that I took and that's how it looks before I edited it.

This screen shot shows that I made a second layer of the same photograph.

Then I had to Go to 'Image', then 'Adjustments' and click on 'Desaturate' so it made the image black and white.

After that, I clicked on erase tool to make my fishes in colour.

I had to zoom in to see the edges.

I screen grabbed this to show my progress of making my fish colourful.

This screen grab shows that I nearly finished erasing black and white from a picture.

Evidence of saving my picture.

Task 1 - Image within a image

In last session we made a 'Picture within a picture'. We had to go out and take two photographs. Then we had to edit them in Photoshop to make one photo. To take those picture we used EOS Cannon 400D.

When I've grabbed my second photo onto the first image(using the move tool) I changed the opacity to 52% (in the layers box) so I could see the billboard and my second photograph just a bit - this allows me to position the image in the right position.

On this screen grab you can see that I'm trying to put photograph of myself on the billboard and then I had to rotate it to fit on it.

When I finished with rotation, then I had to zoom in to delete unwanted bits of image.
This screen grab shows that I chosen erase tool  to delete picture around the billboard.

This screen grab is about changing the size of eraser. The size of my erase was 39 and the opacity of it was 100%.

On this screen grab I'm showing that I'm erasing unwanted bits of picture.

This screen grab proved that I deleted unwanted picture around the billboard.

On this one I changed opacity to 100% too see if there's anything I still need to delete.

I saved my final photograph as JPEG - this flattens the image but keeps the image at a high quality.

FINAL PHOTOGRAPH

I am not satisfied with this photo because for me it doesn't look real and I should of do a different pose on this billboard picture and perhaps try to look at my self sitting on the floor.
